REFLECTION

MY LAST WORDS TO ST. JUDE SCHOOL COMMUNITY

The main feeling I have is one of gratitude and appreciation. I am so grateful for the six years I have spent here at St. Jude School. I give thanks to God for guiding me over the years and surrounding me with such wonderful and capable people. I thank Fr. Jun, Richelle Akol, Leah Wong, and the parents that have served on the PEC over the past 6 years for hiring me and for supporting me during my time. We set our goals and found a common path forward to achieving them. I express my gratitude to the teachers, educational assistants, and support staff (the list is long but you know who you are) for always working so hard for the betterment of the school and to deliver the best learning experiences for the students. I especially want to thank and acknowledge Ms. Carolyn Smillie for answering the call to leadership and for stepping up in countless ways over the years and for all the hours of effort you have put into transitioning the school into next year. I appreciate the kindness and support of all the parents for trusting us with your child’s education. And I am humbled by the kindness of our students who always say hello and live out our school mission with how they treat each other.

I suppose if I were to leave you with a final phrase it would be to always live in a spirit of true kinship. If we truly buy into the idea of kinship (that there is a deep connection between all of us) then we can work through differences and we can support one another when challenges and difficulties arise. Kinship is what we all desire and crave. We need to feel connected, welcomed, valued, and appreciated. You are all part of the St. Jude Family and I will treasure the time I spent here.

Blessings,

Mr. van der Pauw

CHOIR AND ORCHESTRA SPRING CONCERT

Thank you for the choir directors and accompanist, Ms. Ryan, Ms. Smillie, and Ms. O’Gorman.
