REFLECTION
“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time.” —John Lubbock
I think we all are aware of how challenging a year it has been for all of our staff and students. As this year comes to a close, I find myself excited for summer and for time to spend with my kids and my family. I am also excited for the 2021-22 school year.
It is fair to say that Covid-19 dramatically altered the landscape of our school culture. We had no teams competing against other schools. We had no orchestra concerts. We had no clubs that involved students across the grades. We had no mass where we gathered as one school at the church. We had no field trips outside of our school. We had no outdoor education. You get the idea, Covid-19 took many things. But it did not take everything.
We learned and we grew. We laughed and found joy in learning. We told stories and challenged each other. We found ways to connect. We built relationships. We prayed. We journeyed together through this pandemic education year.
It is my deep hope that the 2021-22 school year will see a return to a more normal school year. We anticipate that we will have our teams return to compete and battle against other CISVA schools. We will have concerts again. We will have school masses. We will have field trips and assemblies. We will reclaim what was lost and our school will be a vibrant hub of learning.
But before we can enter into a new school year, we need time to recharge and renew ourselves. I know I am looking forward to camping, to sunsets by the ocean, to campfires, to playing with my kids, to playing golf, and to just enjoying what summer has to offer.
Happy Summer Vacation St. Jude School!
See you in September 🙂

BEFORE SCHOOL CLUB IS COMING TO ST. JUDE SCHOOL
We are going to open up a Patriots Morning Club (Before School Club) for our families that need it. The Club will operate from 7:30am to 8:30am for each day that school is in session. The club will by operated by Mrs. Nana Rubina, an Educational Assistant on staff. The fee for drop in is $6.00 per child or $30 per child for the week. To register you will have to sign up in advance through our website (this feature will be available in late August). It is important to understand that this is a school club with a fee and not a daycare service.
If you think you will use the Patriots Morning Club please complete this short survey: Patriots Morning Club Survey

READING OLYMPICS MEDALISTS
For a 6 week period starting at the beginning of May, students were challenged to read as many books as possible from a variety of genres. The goal of the Reading Olympics was to encourage students to read books. The program was a success because indeed many students started reading more during their spare time. Below are images of those who completed enough challenges to earn a medal.
