REFLECTION
“The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.” -Vince Lombardi
After spending Wednesday at the OLA Track Meet and knowing that our athletes are once again competing at the St. Joe’s Track Meet, I saw many instances of grit and determination in the athletes as they gave their best in running their events. I always enjoy seeing an athlete give their all in trying to finish a race strong. Perhaps the greatest indicator of this, for me, is those students that compete in the longer distance runs and still find the strength to finish with a sprint.
Sports are a wonderful teacher. They can teach our children the value of effort and perseverance. Sports can also be humbling as there is often someone that is faster, better, and stronger. But I like what Vince Lombardi says above about success in sports or in life, it is all about applying the best of ourselves.
NON UNIFORM WEEK AWARDED - JUNE 17-20
Because we passed the $25,000 mark, we will have a non-uniform week from June 17 to June 20, with June 21 being a day off from school. Way to go St. Jude School!
PIZZA LUNCH AWARDED
Another award was achieved as we passed the $25,000 mark. We will have a pizza lunch day on June 17. Order forms to come and again, congrats to St. Jude School!
ST. JUDE’S PARENT SUPPORT GROUP (PSG) NEEDS PARENT VOLUNTEERS
The Parent Support Group (PSG) is a necessary parent liaison group between the school and the BC Gaming Commission. The formation of this group meets the eligibility for receiving a government grant from the BC Gaming Commission. This grant money is intended to benefit K-12 students in British Columbia through enhancement of extracurricular opportunities and community involvement. Historically, this money has subsidized field trips and supported various school clubs (i.e. the chess club and nature club). The school cannot apply for this grant unless we have parents who volunteer their time towards forming the PSG. If you are interested in joining or would like more information, please email psg@stjude.ca
TRACK MEET FUN
Go Patriots, Go! This week the St. Jude Track and Field Team competed in two meets, the OLA meet on Wednesday and the St. Joe’s meet on Thursday. We are so proud of our students who competed well, showed good sportsmanship, and even brought back some impressive ribbons. Thank you to the Coaches, Mr. Mow, Mr. C, Miss Handy, Mrs. Stanley, and Miss Foster.
