Reflection
In 2008 my wife and I walked the Camino de Santiago in Spain. We walked for 30 days and approximately 750kms. This life changing experience is one I often reflect on to this day. I can recall how I felt when we were within 100kms of Santiago. We knew we would arrive in 4 days. Those 4 days were some of the hardest days of the journey because we just wanted to arrive but there was nothing we could reasonably do to speed up the process.
At this point in the year, students and teachers often find themselves in a similar position. The May Long Weekend approaches and June inches closer. We can almost taste summer. But we still have over a month of school remaining. So how does one persevere and work through the coming weeks?
By focusing on our purpose. That is how my wife and I were able to keep walking. We were orientated to a destination and we knew by taking one step at a time, we would arrive. Same too for school. In the coming days, when our students begin to waver, let us encourage them and support them to keep learning and to keep growing, for that is their purpose.
Updates
CISVA Track Meet
Dear Parents,
I would like to congratulate all the students on a great track season. We had a busy couple of weeks with the last two track meets, and the kids did amazingly well.
Moving forward, not all students will need to continue with practices. A list will go up in the classrooms very soon with the names of students who still have a chance to participate in the CISVA track meet , and will continue to attend practices.
NOT ALL STUDENTS ON THE LIST WILL GET AN EVENT AT THE CISVA MEET. SOME STUDENTS WILL BE A SPARE IN CASE OF INJURY OR SICKNESS.
Thank you,
Mr. Campanile| Athletic Director
Thank you to Gr. 1 and Gr. 6 Parents
We extend our gratitude to the parents in Gr. 1 and Gr. 6 for their help with the sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation. Your assistance in decorating, providing food, and cleaning up the gym is greatly appreciated.
Krispy Kreme Fundraiser
Last call for Krispy Kreme pre-orders. Please hand your form and payment into the office by Tuesday, May 21st.
Lost and Found
There are many items in the Lost and Found cupboard. Please come claim your possessions. After Friday, May 24th, all unclaimed items will be donated.
Cambridge Uniform Update
I would like to inform parents that at the end of May, we will be purchasing the unsold uniform stock from Neat Uniforms. We will make that stock available for purchase to parents starting the first week of June. These items will be sold at cost as they will only be part of the uniform for the next two years. We are allowing for a 2 year transition to the new uniform from Cambridge Uniforms. If a size is not available from the Neat Uniform stock then parents will need to purchase from Cambridge Uniforms. Uniforms will be available from Cambridge starting June 1, 2019. During the week of June 17-21 Cambridge Uniforms will be on site at St. Jude School to fill uniform orders and if you order during this time frame you will save the GST on your purchases. Click here to read about Cambridge Uniforms and how to order from them.
Spring Raffle
The collection date is June 7, 2019. It is important that “legal aged adults” be the ones to drop off raffle ticket monies and stubs, similar to how tickets were picked up at the start of the raffle. All raffle tickets must be turned in by June 7th. Thank you for your continued support of one of our most important fundraisers.

School Life
OLA Track Meet
Students in Grades 4 to 7 went through two days of Football camp. This was an opportunity to expose students to the sport. The camp was led by University and soon to be Pro football players.
Ms. Siano supports one of our students by running along side him. Both were troopers as the rain was coming down hard during the event.
Many of our athletes did well despite the very wet and cold conditions. Congratulations to all the students for showing such resilience and representing our school well.
Patriots School Spirit
Students were showing off their Patriots school spirit by wearing their new hoodies with pride. Way to go St. Jude students!
