The Patriot Report – April 5th, 2019

Reflection

I always enjoy track and field season. There is something to be said for the pursuit of athletic excellence in a sport that dates back to ancient times. One of the things I enjoy most is watching our student athletes try their best in running and persevering through the pain of working hard. The heavy breathing, the sweat beading on their forehead, the determined look to not give up, are all indicators of resilience. Track and field teaches our students to be resilient, to be humble, to be determined, to be gracious in victory and defeat. Over the years I have witnessed remarkable displays of sportsmanship at our Catholic school track meets and I anticipate that this year will be no different.

Updates

Patriots Spirit Wear

An email went out on Wednesday about Patriots Spirit Wear. Items will be available for you or your children to try on. Come to the office after school on Monday. If the line up is too long please remember that we will have the samples available all week. If you have any questions about the Spirit Wear please email Mr. van der Pauw at cvanderpauw@stjude.ca

Spring Raffle

All families should now have their Spring Raffle tickets. The Spring Raffle is our second major fundraiser for the year. We thank you for your support and effort in raising funds that will directly benefit your child’s school.

Kindergarten Enrollment

We are still accepting applications for Kindergarten and we do have space in some of our other primary classes. If you know of families considering a top rated Catholic education, please direct them to our school.

SYC Evening April 25, 6:30-7:30

Grade 4 to 7 parents are expected to attend the Sexuality and Your Child talks on April 25th, 2019. The talks will occur in your child’s classroom. This is an important part of the curriculum and we need parents to attend these talks. A letter went home previously from Archbishop Miller explaining how important these talks are. We have hired Signal Hill to lead the talks. All parents are expected to attend. Please contact Mr. van der Pauw directly at cvanderpauw@stjude.ca if you have questions or are unable to attend.

Correction to Gr. 7 Fundraising

Earlier this week forms went home for Nonna Lina’s Cream Horns. The forms are due back on Thursday April 11, not Monday as per the form.

Badminton Battles

Grade 6 and 7 students have been practicing their badminton skills in preparation for their upcoming tournament next week.

Stations of the Cross
