In advance of Christmas and on behalf of the school, I would like to wish each of you a very joyous and peaceful Christmas. Our prayer for you is that this will be a time for you to grow in faith and fellowship. As for the staff, we will be sure to rest and rejuvenate so that we are ready to hit the ground running come January 2019!
Blessings to you and your family!
Mr. Chris van der Pauw
Important Notice sent home December 21, 2018
In light of the recent power outage, we have sent home an important communication notice to all parents addressing some of the lessons that we learned from yesterday. Report Cards were sent home yesterday and today so please also look for these. If you are out of town, Report Cards will be held at the office for you to pick up in January of 2019!
We will begin to use the Remind messaging app. The purpose of this messaging service is to quickly and effectively message the community when important information needs to be disseminated right away. Please follow the instructions shown below or go click here to sign up for Remind with your email address:
No Newsletters over Christmas Break
There will be no newsletters over the Christmas Break. The next scheduled newsletter is for January 11, 2019. Please be aware that school reopens January 7, 2019!
Thank you for the Support
On behalf of the school I would like to thank those who have supported our school with the donation of food for the food bank. I would also like to extend my thanks to those who have been supporting our bake sales and other fundraising efforts.
Kindergarten Sibling Registration
St. Jude School is starting to field registration questions from interested new families. In order for us to know how many spots we have available we need to hear from our existing families that have children who will be entering kindergarten. Some families have already contacted Ms. Goh at the office with this information. We ask that if you have a child who will be entering Kindergarten in September 2019, please email Ms. Goh at email@example.com. Please also include the child’s name and date of birth in the email.
School Closures Due to Snow
As an administrator it is my desire to always have school be in session. However, I cannot put students and staff at risk in the event that road conditions become treacherous. Our school is a commuter school in that the majority of our students are driven to the school and our staff comes from various neighbourhoods. This presents unique conditions for our school that must be considered when discerning whether to close the school due to weather.
The school will communicate a closure due to weather through the school website and through email using our MailChimp service as well as Remind. Please understand that the decision to close is never an easy decision and numerous factors are taken into consideration.
Parents are responsible for checking email and the website on cold weather days when snow is in the forecast.
Bring out the Hammers
Grade 6 students created quite the noise this week as they banged away making birdhouses as part of the ADST Curriculum. A big thank you to Mr. E. Johnson for volunteering his time to help the students safely maneuver the process and to impart some carpentry skills at the same time!
Grade 6 and 3 Continue the Tradition
Despite a Power Outage, students in Gr. 6 and 3 soldiered on and made winter landscapes with Christmas candies and treats. It was a time for friendship and Christmas Cheer!
