REFLECTION
“Above all, be firm and steadfast, taking care to observe the entire law which my servant Moses enjoined on you. Do not swerve from it either to the right or to the left, that you may succeed where you go.” Joshua 1:7
The quote above is given by God to Joshua following the death of Moses. Joshua was anointed by Moses and appointed by God to lead the people of Israel into the land of Canaan and it is clear that God reminds Joshua that success is not to be measured by land, by gold, by fame, or by power over others. No, success is rooted in remaining firm in the law of God.
Fast forward to Jesus in the Gospel of Luke 10, 25-28. A scholar of the law of Moses asked Jesus what he must do to inherit eternal life. Jesus puts the question back to him and asks him what the law says. The scholar quotes Deuteronomy 6, 5 and Leviticus 19,18 saying, “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your being, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”
Success then, according to the Law of Moses, according to Jesus, is all about how closely we follow the commandments to love God and to love others. That is what we must not waver from.

CISVA TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS - ABBOTSFORD BC - JUNE 12 & 15
This year, CISVA Athletics have faced unprecedented challenges and once again our Athletic Association is having to adapt. As Swangard Stadium’s track is under repair and closed to the public, the next largest track venue is located in Abbotsford. Unfortunately, all busses have been booked and coach busses are far too expensive.
If you are attending the track meet please be aware of several challenges:
- There is not enough stadium seating: Seating priority goes to athletes and coaches. The maximum number of rows for a school to take is 3. Some schools may have to set up on the grass areas on the opposite side of the track.
- Smoky conditions: The CISVA Elementary Athletic Commission is closely following air quality reports due to the fire located 50km away from Abbotsford by Harrison Lake. If the air quality index says it is unsafe to run, then the track meet will be cancelled. According to reports and projections, the air quality for Monday says it will be safe to run. But please be sure to check your email on Monday should things change. The track meet is happening unless it is communicated as cancelled.
- Hot weather: we are expecting hot weather. Please ensure your child has plenty of water and sunscreen.
- Complaints: any complaints about events or event outcomes are to be brought to the coaches Mr. Mow and Mr. Campanile. No parents are to interact with the Track and Field Directors.
