REFLECTION

“Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only what is useful for building up, as there is need, so that your words may give grace to those who hear.” – Eph 4:29

When I was in elementary school we were taught the following phrase: “sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me.” We realize the falseness of that line. Words matter. Words can hurt others. Words can repeat on a loop inside one’s mind. This is why St. Paul in his Letter to the Ephesians, reminds them, and by extension us, to only speak kindness and to only build others up and not tear them down.

Let us work hard to apply St.Paul’s instruction to let our words give grace to others and in that way we will uphold the values of our school.

100 DAYS SMARTER

We made it through 100 days of school! On Monday the Kindergarten class celebrated their first hundred days of school with counting activities and crafts as well as sharing their homemade “100 things” posters. Congratulations on your first 100 days, Kindergarten, we love witnessing your joy and love of learning!

GRADE ONE COMMUNITY FIELD TRIPS

Grade One has been exploring and learning about our community this week. On Tuesday they went to the library and were treated to a tour and fun activities. On Friday they received a tour of the local firehall where the fire fighters showed the children their equipment, spoke about the importance of fire safety, and even allowed children to climb up into the firetruck. These community lessons will not be soon forgotten, thank you to the teachers and parent volunteers who made it possible!

St. Jude’s Parish is hosting a community-wide parish mission on God’s Healing Love from March 11-13, at 6:30-8:30pm.  This series of talks will cover:

Healing through Forgiveness (Monday, Mar 11)

Healing through Repentance (Tuesday, Mar 12)

Healing through the Name of Jesus Christ (Wednesday, Mar 13)

Fr. Greg Bramlage of Missionaries of the New Evangelization will introduce us to a new understanding of God’s Mercy and share with us the incredible healings that result when we repent of our sins, forgive those who’ve hurt us and pray with expectant faith. He will teach us how to open our hearts to the Holy Spirit and enter into a more profound relationship with Jesus and God the Father. Please come with an open heart & expectant faith. Each night there is a free-will offering to offset the cost of the Mission and to help Fr. Greg build a Center for the New Evangelization in the Diocese of Tyler, Texas. Children are welcome.
