The Patriot Report – May 10th, 2019

Reflection

During my time here at St. Jude School I have been impressed by the community feeling at the school. Early on, I was warmly welcomed and supported by staff, students, and parents. This past week, I once again observed and experienced the warmth of our community. Staff, students, and parents worked hard to make First Communion for Gr. 2 a memorable experience. From decorating the gym to supplying food to singing in the choir to altar serving, our community pulled together to make this day special. Two days later, we did the same thing for Confirmation. When parents, students, and staff all work together for a common cause the results are always spectacular.

A sincere thank you to each person, too many to list here, who contributed their time and talents to making these events possible.

Updates

Crowning of Mary

Attention families of St. Jude School: You are cordially invited to attend our May Crowning celebration during 9am Wednesday mass on May 15th. The primary students will be in charge of this mass and look forward to sharing this Catholic tradition of crowning Mary, the mother of Jesus. This mass will also be the first performance of our brand new primary choir, who are eager to lend their voices to honour Our Lady. We are asking the families of the primary students to provide some blossoms for our mass. Please bring 2-3  stemmed flowers to add to our bouquets and decorate the church by Monday, May 13. Thank you for your help and support.

Cambridge Uniform Update

I would like to inform parents that at the end of May, we will be purchasing the unsold uniform stock from Neat Uniforms. We will make that stock available for purchase to parents starting the first week of June. These items will be sold at cost as they will only be part of the uniform for the next two years. We are allowing for a 2 year transition to the new uniform from Cambridge Uniforms. If a size is not available from the Neat Uniform stock then parents will need to purchase from Cambridge Uniforms. Uniforms will be available from Cambridge starting June 1, 2019. During the week of June 17-21 Cambridge Uniforms will be on site at St. Jude School to fill uniform orders and if you order during this time frame you will save the GST on your purchases.  Click here to read about Cambridge Uniforms and how to order from them.

Spring Raffle

On May 16 parents will be set up after school and possibly in the morning as well, to collect sold raffle ticket stubs and money. Times will be confirmed in next Friday’s newsletter. It is important that “legal aged adults” be the ones to drop off raffle ticket monies and stubs, similar to how tickets were picked up at the start of the raffle. This is the first opportunity to turn in the raffle tickets. The other collection date is June 7. All raffle tickets must be turned in by June 7th. Thank you for your continued support of one of our most important fundraisers.
