REFLECTION

“Every successful individual knows that his or her achievement depends on a community of persons working together.” – Paul Ryan

I believe that our school has experienced much success this year. We have managed to successfully adapt to teaching and learning in a educational landscape that has been greatly impacted by a global pandemic. We have managed to find ways to engage students in learning through various mediums and methods that we normally would not have considered as demonstrated by recently having famous Canadian authors speak to our students through zoom. And last Friday, we successfully completed our school walkathon.

The success of our only fundraiser, the walkathon, has been astounding. We had the goal of raising $20,000 to help pay for the renovation of the rest of our school washroom facilities. To date our walkathon has raised $30, 677.55! To say that this is awesome is an understatement. It really is difficult to express how impressed I am by our community to support our school initiatives. The generosity of our donors is absolutely amazing and on behalf of the school I wish to communicate how grateful we are.

The collective efforts of the walkathon is a symbol for what must happen for our school to be successful in all areas. We are in this together. When we support each other in our efforts to educate our children, then we will see real growth in our children. By working together, by helping and supporting each other, we can create the type of school where each child feels welcomed and accepted. We can create a school community that provides a foundation for life.

Again, my sincere thanks and appreciation for the community of St. Jude School!

Updates

FIRST COMMUNION AND CONFIRMATION

As a school, we are very much aware of the importance of the sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation. Fr Jun and school administration have been discussing possible formats and venues for administering these important sacraments. We are waiting to see what restrictions will be in place after the May Long Weekend. With that information we will best be able to decide a course of action for administering the sacraments. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We hope to communicate with parents next week on when we will celebrate the sacraments.
