REFLECTION

“Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything beautiful, for beauty is God’s handwriting.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Despite the deluge of rain that seems to come our way almost every day, I still find moments to appreciate the absolute beauty of the living world. At this time of the year, perhaps there is nothing more striking than that of the cherry blossom.

We are blessed to have cherry blossom trees along East 15th Ave that come into full bloom at the start of each spring. There is something truly striking about the trees and seeing streets in Vancouver come alive with their beauty. The visual appeal of the blossoms captures the attention of us all and many will seek to take pictures of themselves with the cherry blossoms hoping to capture the beauty.

As always, the time of the cherry blossom is brief. Almost on cue, the winds will pick up and it will almost seem like it is snowing cherry blossom petals. Like that, they are gone for the season. Such is the way of life. But we can take comfort in knowing that they will return again next season. The cherry blossom also reminds us to be grateful and to give praise to the Creator for such beauty. We are indeed fortunate to live where we can stop and admire the blossoms of a beautiful tree. Not all in this world are so lucky.

WALKATHON GOAL FOR APRIL 14

Each student is challenged to have at least one pledge recorded by April 14th when they bring in their pledge sheets. If we can have all students show that they have at least one pledge then April 22 will be a non-uniform day in celebration of meeting this goal.

WALKATHON SPONSORS 2022

Over the next few weeks I will highlight the businesses that have sponsored our walkathon shirts for 2022.

Remdal Painting and Restoration Inc.

When we decided to paint the exterior of St. Jude School, Remdal Painting and Restoration Inc. stood above the rest as a company we wanted to work with. They were professional and helpful from start to finish. I knew of Remdal from their work on St. John Brebeuf Secondary in Abbotsford. When I told them of the vision to have our school name painted on the exterior they had the professionals to make that happen. They went the extra mile in many ways and they were always responsive to what we wanted. I would recommend them to anyone.

You can read more about them at their website: remdal.com

WALKATHON SUPERVISORS NEEDED

To make our Walkathon day a success requires the help and support of many parents. This is a great way to get some parent participation hours. We need supervisors at various checkpoints throughout the day. We will also need parents to walk with our classes. For class walking parents a form will be sent home closer to the Walkathon date. However, without supervisors at checkpoints this day cannot happen. On behalf of St. Jude School I thank you for helping us make this day possible.

If you are able to help with our Walkathon on May 13, 2022 please email Andrea at andreahannos@yahoo.com or email Monique at eparticipation@stjude.ca
