REFLECTION
The sunshine recently has certainly meant that students and teachers are looking ahead to the summer months of July and August. At this time of the year, we tend to see an uptick in behavioral issues. Students might be getting tired of going to school or they are looking so forward to summer break that they begin to act up.
I see it in my own children at home. Their patience and tolerance begins to dwindle. The complaining increases. I get it and I try to be supportive and encouraging. I think that is the best approach at this time. Listen to your children but also encourage them to continue to do their best and to keep working hard.
The journey always gets harder the closer we are to finishing it.

WE SAY GOODBYE TO MS. GOH
It goes without saying how much our school community appreciates Ms. Goh. Over the 5 years I have worked alongside Ms. Goh I have come to really value her humor, her work ethic, her tell-it-to-you-straight approach, her insights, her friendliness, and her ability to connect with our children and parents. Now that Ms. Goh’s children are all out of elementary school and into high school/university, she will be pursuing other industries at the end of this current school year.
Ms. Goh has loved her 6 years at St. Jude School and we will definitely miss her.
WE SAY GOODBYE TO MRS. DE SOUSA
Mrs. De Sousa came to St. Jude School from Northern Alberta and her family has made the decision to return to Northern Alberta. We have appreciated the musical talents of Mrs. De Sousa as well as her work ethic in the Christmas Concert, in preparing for weekly Masses, and in planning for our June 13 Spring Concert.
We wish Mrs. De Sousa every success in her return to Northern Alberta.
HOT LUNCH WEDNESDAY
Pizza Hut has informed us that their ovens will not be available for this coming Wednesday. We will be going with Yummy Slice Pizza instead as a replacement option for Hot Lunch. Thank you for your understanding.
FR. JOSEPH CELEBRATES 25 YEARS AS A PRIEST
St. Jude School would like to extend its congratulations to Fr. Joseph for reaching the milestone of 25 years as a Priest. Fr. Joseph works for RCAV but has his home at St. Jude Parish. On occasion, Fr. Joseph has said our school masses. The parish will be honoring him this Sunday.
Congratulations Fr. Joseph on 25 Years!
ST. JUDE SCHOOL DEVELOPS A GREEN THUMB
Vegetable boxes were installed this week to allow our primary students to plant seeds and seedlings from our Earth Week celebrations in April. We hope that over time we can grow this space into an outdoor learning space where students can learn about plants and food systems.
If you are interested in helping to maintain the veggie boxes over the summer months, please reach out to Mr. Chris van der Pauw by emailing cvanderpauw@stjude.ca
