The Patriot Report – May 7

REFLECTION

It is 8:30 at night and the kids are finally asleep. One may think that the evening is free now, but there is one task that remains: lunches. Putting together lunches for the kids for the next day of school is not a task that any parent enjoys and yet my wife does it every night. I think this task is a perfect image of the sacrifice that my wife makes for her children and her family.

To be clear, the last thing she wants to do at the end of the day is to make lunches. She is tired from all the demands of work and home. But she knows that lunches need to be made. So she does it and she even writes little notes on napkins for the kids. Here is a task that she does not want to do yet does it with love anyway.

And that is what I think it means to be a great mom. It is hard for me to express in words how very grateful I am for my wife. She does so much and cares so deeply. It is in witnessing her sacrifices that I come to appreciate even more greatly the sacrifices my mom made for our family.

I am sure that the moms in our community work tirelessly for their family and taking a day to honor and show our appreciation for mothers in our life is the very least we can do.

Happy Mothers Day!

WALKATHON PERMISSION FORM

Today, a letter and permission form was sent home with the oldest in each family. It is important that we receive these permission forms back by Tuesday, May 11, 2021. If your child lost or misplaced the form, you can find it here. We are also asking for 1 to 2 parents to walk with each class so that we can ensure proper student safety. If you are able to assist, please indicate on the permission form.

WALKATHON UPDATE

Many of our classes are closing in on their classroom goal and some classes have surpassed their goal and have created new goals for their class. A huge thank you to all those who have financially contributed to our walkathon!

A couple of things to address:

  1. The pledge sheets need to reflect the online and cash/cheque donors. This is because the pledge sheets will be used for prize entry draws. The pledge sheets also help us to have a better sense of how much we have raised. Please make sure your child records every pledge including the online ones.
  2. We really want 100% participation in the Walkathon including our Option 4 students. We are one school community. We would love to see every child bring in one pledge, no matter the amount.
  3. Please send the money in for the Walkathon no later than May 20th (one week after the walkathon). You can send it in anytime between now and May 20th. We do receipt all money and we make sure we copy the pledge sheets so that we know what has been collected and who is owed tax receipts.
  4. Online donations are easiest due to the Charitable Tax receipt being issued by Charitable Impact. We do encourage online donation.
