The Patrioteer – June 26, 2026

PRINCIPAL'S CORNER

As this year draws to a close, we take stock of the blessings of this school year. This year was a year of ups and downs globally, with war and heartbreak touching the lives of many around the world, but there was also great joys. We had new modern saints canonized with Carlo Acutis and Pier Frassati, we got to see the world connect and cheer together during the world cup matches, and we also got to see our students grow and change. A teacher knows that change is inevitable as there is always a turn over of classes and students each year, but it is the love and joy we find with those students, even if it is for a few brief months,  that keep us coming back every September.  Thank you for letting us be a part of your children’s lives this year and we can’t wait to see what joys the new year brings!

*This is the last newsletter of the 2025-2026 School Year! The Patrioteer will return in September 2026. Wishing you all a safe and happy summer vacation!*

Congratulations to all our students who were recognized at our End of the Year Assembly — Track and Field medalists, Grade Six Girls Basketball Bronze medalists, Grade Seven Award Winners.

STAFF GOODBYES

Best of Luck to our Staff Members who are not returning next year! Thank you for your support of our students, keep in touch!

Mrs. Pimentel — After many years as a faithful Educational Assistant at our school, Mrs. Pimentel will be retiring. We wish her well and hope she gets lots more time with her family and more sunny days for long rides in her convertible!

Mrs. Cannova — After her dedicated service to the CISVA as an Educational Assistant here and at St. Patrick’s Maple Ridge, Mrs. Cannova will be enjoying her retirement. We wish her many sunny walks with her adorable puppy and hope she can use the time off work to travel more.

Miss Glinsbockel — St. Jude as been Miss G’s home since the start of her teaching career in 2000, but now she leaves us to experience another CISVA school! She will be the new Grade Three teacher at Our Lady of Mercy and they are lucky to have her. Best of luck!

Miss O’Gorman — Miss O’Gorman has been an EA, a music teacher, a Resource Teacher, a librarian, and a Kindergarten teacher during her 3 short years at St. Jude. It’s no surprise to us that she can do anything she sets her mind to. Thanks for the amazing concerts you treated us to, good luck on your return to your home country of Ireland!

Miss Killen — Miss Killen was a beloved EA in both Grade 4 and Grade 2 this year. We will miss her bright and sunny smile that lit up those classrooms. Good luck on your return to Ireland, Miss Killen!

Miss Fay — Even though Miss Fay was only at our school a few months, she was a source of positivity and joy in both the Kindergarten and the Grade 2 classroom. We are sad to see you move to Alberta, but we are happy you will be able to continue supporting students and sharing your joy!

Mrs. Urquhart — Mrs. Urquhart welcomes a baby girl next month and we wish her a safe and happy delivery as well as a restful maternity leave.

STAFF HELLOS

We are happy to welcome some new staff members to our school next year!

Ms. Camacho — Our new Grade One teacher is a recent graduate of UBC. We are happy she will call St. Jude her first home. (pictured below, left)

Ms. Falcone — Our new part time Kindergarten teacher is also a recent UBC graduate. We are looking forward to her joining our St. Jude family.

Ms. Yung — Our new music teacher has recently moved to Canada after teaching in Hong Kong for the last decade. We look forward to sharing our St. Jude love of music with her! (pictured below, right)
