CHESS TOURNAMENT FINALS
For the past four weeks Patriot Chess Club has been running our Chess finals. We had 21 students participate in the tournament and this week we ended with our top three students. Congratulations to all our competitors! Thank you to Ms. Smillie and Mr. Mow, Patriot Chess Club sponsors.

NATURE CLUB'S OWL VISIT
This week our Nature Club received a visit from OWL (Orphaned Wildlife) Rehabilitation Society. The students learned all about owls and had a special visit from a real life raptor!
Thank you Mrs. Cheung and Miss Paez for organizing this special visit!



PL3Y DANCE WORKSHOP
Grades 1-3 had an in-school physical literacy workshop From PL3Y Education. This hour-long workshop had all the students moving and grooving! Thank you to Mrs. Cheung for putting together this fun opportunity and a big thank you to the organizers and instructors at PL3Y Education for helping us add some groove into our week!



GRADE ONE PRESENTS ON THEIR FAVOURITE ANIMALS
Grade One has been learning all about animals. This week they shared their knowledge with the school by holding an animal presentation in the library. Each student shared a written report, a clay animal statue, and hand drawn animal fact cards. Thank you Ms. Glinsbockel for facilitating this celebration of learning.

CHARITABLE TAX RECEIPTS
AFTER SCHOOL CHESS CLUB -- SESSION 2 REGISTRATION OPEN
Exciting news! St. Jude School is partnering with Little Pawns Academy to offer after school Chess lessons. Little Pawns was started by a Canadian GrandMaster with the goal of bringing Chess to Canadian students and inspiring a love of the game. Classes are open to students in Grades 3-7 and will take place Tuesdays after school from 3:00-4:00pm. There will be three sets of sessions starting Mid-February and pausing for spring break and Easter. Registration must be completed at least one week before each session begins and class sizes are limited so sign up soon! Sign up forms are found on our website here. GRADE 7 FUNDRAISING - BOTTLE DRIVE
We are excited to launch a year-round Bottle Drive to raise funds for the Grade 7 Graduation.
You can help by donating your empty beverage containers through the Return-It Express Program. Stickers can by printed at the Return-It Express kiosk by entering St. Jude Fundraising and phone number 604-616-3220. Please see attached flyer for more information.

INTERESTED IN LEARNING MORE ABOUT THE CATHOLIC FAITH?
St. Jude’s Parish offers an RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) program for anyone interested in learning more about the Catholic faith and for Catholics who have not received the sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation. Classes are held on Thursdays at 6pm in the church hall. For more information, please contact the parish office at 604-434-6700.
