The Patrioteer – May 9, 2025

PRINCIPAL'S CORNER

This week we had our 2025 Walkathon. When I was a teacher,  Walkathon was an exciting and fun day where I could spend the entire day with my class outside enjoying a sunny day while walking. As an administrator, I now have a better understanding of the time and effort that goes into the day and the beautiful expression of community that the day symbolizes. I am filled with gratitude! Thank you to the parents who have volunteered so much of their time to make this day possible! Thank you to the teachers who have promoted this day for a month! Thank you to the students, who have been hustling for pledges and waiting in anticipation!

This week our universal church saw the election of a new Pope, Pope Leo XIV. His first address was one of peach and comfort. One line especially resonated with me “All of us are in God’s hands.” As we embark on this journey together we must remember that we are in God’s hands. Today, with the community coming together for this fun and important day, it was inspiring to see the care of a loving Creator. We are all in God’s hands and he cares for each of us and for us as a collective.

Take care, and go with God!

St. Jude, pray for us!

GRADE 3 TAKES A TRIP TO CENTRAL PARK

On Thursday of this week our Grade Three students had a field trip to Central Park in Burnaby. The students learned about local ecology.

Thank you to Mrs. Abela, our Grade Three EAs, Mr. Shane and Ms. Torres, and the parent volunteers who made this day happen!

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

Congratulations to all our communicants (from grades 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7) who received Jesus for the first time in the sacrament of First Holy Communion on Sunday, May 4.  A big thank you to Mrs. Urquhart for all her hard work and preparation for the students, as well as all the teachers and parents who made this day special.

TENNIS

This week, our students had the pleasure of learning tennis from a certified Tennis Instructor from “Fun Tennis Services”.  They all had so much fun learning the basics of the game and sharpening their skills.

Thanks for bringing this program into our school, Mr. C!
